New album update…
Well, we’re
just about there; at least as far as the music side of it goes. It’s mixed, mastered and as soon as the
artwork is finished and the first batch printed, it’s out! We’ve had two artwork themes working but
have settled for the original idea which is in keeping with the underlying
concept of the album. Nearer to the
release date we’ll put the front cover up here.
The plan is
to release it on the weekend of our gigs at The Bell
in Swindon and The Reckless in Bristol
(26 & 27 June).
It’s by far
the most ambitious project the band has worked on. Not just the fact that it clocks in at just
over 64 minutes but the fact that several of the songs are quite long! Three of them break the 10 minute
barrier. If you’ve seen the band live
in the last year, chances are you’ve already heard some of them.
All ten
songs were written by the band but an important mention has to be made
regarding the song “Three”
It’s the longest song in the Outsider repertoire at just under
12 minutes – yes we cut it down!!
Originally a complete song written by guitarist Andy Sayers and
briefly in the Outsider set as far back as 1999. We decided to re-work it a couple of years
ago and thought it needed something a bit different for the instrumental
break in the middle.
The
instrumental break turned in to a bit of a monster and whilst this was very
much a band effort we have our former bass player and very good friend Dave
Werrett to thank for the intro to the middle section and the intro to the
song itself. Dave also had a hand in
the writing of a couple of the other songs on the album
The track listing is as follows: -
1.
The Eleventh Hour (Overture)
2.
Too Late this Time
3.
Nothing to Lose
4.
Moments Before
5.
Three
6.
Feed My Soul
7.
The Last Word
8. Is Nothing Sacred
9.
Reflections
10.
Bleed Through Me
Sample mp3’s and the artwork will follow
soon……………
4 MAY 2009
Saturday’s gig is off…
The Stones
Cross gig scheduled for Saturday (9 May) is off. Hopefully things will pick up and we will
be back there soon.
The album is
finished and we will provide a full update and some sounds soon. Not only do we think it’s rather good but
it’s rather LOUD!!
Now, it’s
always a good sign when you turn up at a venue and see your posters on
display, looking almost virginal, untouched by the rigours of life in the
place over the course of the previous weeks NOT!! Even better then when you notice the venue
management walking around with one of your posters, with fresh blue tack
recently applied, whilst you are setting your gear up! It’s a Saturday night and there were
apparently lots of people in the place watching local bands on both on both
the Thursday and Friday nights. Hmmm…
wouldn’t it have been a good idea to put the posters up, like BEFORE the
night of the gig! They were, after all
hand delivered three weeks beforehand!!
Still, that’s enough of that because if there’s one thing we won’t do
its lower ourselves to that level.
Just a little rant which is more than we’ll say for some.
By the way
“Full” might be back in the set soon ;-)
6 MARCH 2009
Album update soon and more gigs…
We are in
the final stages of mixing the album and will provide a full update and some
sounds soon. We think it’s rather
good!!
In the
meantime, more gigs have been added to the list.
