When
the band called it a day in January 1983 (and at the time of their one
reunion gig in October of the same year) they consisted of: Mike
Lloyd: Vocals Andy
Sayers: Lead Guitar Nigel
Shellford: Lead Guitar Ian
Mereweather: Bass Martyn
Dykes: Drums Over
the years Traitors Gate managed to create an extensive range of original
material (fully listed on the music page) and a few of these songs have been
dusted down with mp3’s put on this site. A
full list of all the gigs played by the band can also be found here but some
particular highlights would have to be the gigs at The Old Pier and Hobbits
in Weston-super-Mare, Banwell Village Hall and the tour of Originally
the band was going to be a four piece but singer Neil Bland was poached by
another local band at the time – Jaques De Van. Small world that it is Martyn Dykes now
plays in a Weston based band with Rob Jaques called Trouble 'n Strife The
decision was made to carry on as a three piece and that’s how it was when the
band made its first appearance at The Granary on In
1982 the band was joined by Mike Lloyd (Vocals) and later in the same year by
Nigel Shellford on guitar. The five
piece line up remained in place until the band decided to go their separate
ways with Shelly leaving to join Shanghai and Martyn, Mike and Andy cropping
up in other bands over the next few months/years. Both Martyn and Shelly played in the Cliff
Moore band at some stage and Andy went on to form another local band called
Zenith. Boris retired at what was a
very tender age but is still an avid music fan. Andy,
Shelly and Martyn were briefly reunited in 1987 in a band called Mike
